Weekly Wrap Up – Wet Weather Round

Summary

It was a limited schedule as a wet weather make-up round saw only three teams take the field across the weekend. MD2 came away with a hard-fought win over Southern Power, showing great determination in a competitive contest. MD6 was unable to continue its recent run of form against Camden, while WD1 battled strongly against Southern Power despite the result. With only a handful of matches played, the round still provided valuable game time and another opportunity for players and teams to continue building throughout the season.

Below is a full breakdown of each team’s performance, including coaches’ comments, best-on-ground players, and goalkickers.

Men’s Division 6

Result:

Camden 8.9 – 57 to East Coast 4.8 – 32

From The Coach:

The long awaited round 8 match up with Camden arrived in wet weather round, however with 14 unavailable players due to injury and travel, it meant a few fresh faces lined up for the mens 6s. We knew this game was going to be a good old fashioned scrap. An opportunity was there for the boys to adopt the “next man up” mentality. A close first half saw the boys down by 2 goals at half time. Unfortunately, we never clicked into gear and struggled with capitalising on the large amount of possession we had in the 2nd half. Camden were first to the footy all day and ran in strong numbers which we did not match. A tough loss with valuable lessons learned nonetheless. The boys still hold 2nd place on percentage, but we know the competition is starting to heat up, with other teams in finals contention starting to string together some really solid wins and field their best 22.

Best On:

  1. Jackson Hart
  2. Christopher Sultana
  3. Cohen Bultitude
  4. John Birch
  5. Jarrod Stone
  6. Alex Howard

Goal Kickers:

  • Christopher Sultana (3)
  • Jayden Campion (1)
