Weekly Wrap Up – Round 11

Summary

It was a challenging round, with several sides facing strong opposition across the weekend. The Men’s Premier Division and U19.5s both put in competitive performances against North Shore, while MD2 battled hard against Randwick in a tough contest. The Women’s Premier Division and WD1 also faced difficult assignments against a quality North Shore outfit, continuing to show resilience and determination despite the results. MD6 provided the highlight of the round with a dominant win over Southern Power, giving the club plenty of positives to build on heading into the coming weeks.

Below is a full breakdown of each team’s performance, including coaches’ comments, best-on-ground players, and goalkickers.

Men’s Premier Division

Result:

North Shore 11.10 – 76 to East Coast 8.7 – 55

From The Coach:

Gallant in defeat versus the league leaders in North Shore, MPD got as close as they have for a number of years going down by 3 goals.  The Q4 fightback was character building and the team should take real confidence in showing yet again that we play out games and run them out well. Nick Johns and Riley Hayman down back were excellent, along with Mitch Bradley up forward. We move onto SWS this weekend down at Rosedale to avenge the loss earlier in the season.

Men’s Division 6

Result:

East Coast 12.14 – 86 to Southern Power 1.5 – 11

From The Coach:

A traditional wet & dewy morning was on the cards for the D6 match this week. Southern Power made the trek to Rouse Hill bringing only 16 players, half whom were backing up later than day for Div 4. A slippery first half saw the boys absorb pressure and play with patience whilst the ball was wet. A few too many handballs hindered a few attacking opportunities. Managing rotations with 6 on the bench was a challenge but the boys produced short, sharpe efforts, earning their rest. The 2nd half dried up and the boys changed gears. They lowered their eyes around the ground, hitting shorter targets and angles, whilst having good run and carry from behind. The forwards hit some strong leads and crumbing went to another level which saw the lead increase. A dominant final quarter with classy midfield clearances again proved too much for the fatiguing Power to handle, as the boys ran away 11 goal winners. Great defensive efforts once again saw us hold Power to 1 goal. A great win and a confidence booster after last weeks messy win vs Manly.

Best On:

  1. Kai Watton
  2. Joshua Fuamatu
  3. Cameron Veerhuis
  4. Jayden Harrison
  5. Lachlan Watson
  6. Willian Egan

Goal Kickers:

  • Andrew Tumminello (3)
  • Jayden Harrison (2)
  • Jordan Lambert (2)
  • Willian Egan (1)
  • Joshua Wall (1)
