Weekly Wrap Up – Round 8

Summary

It was a shortened round, with the Men’s and Women’s Premier Division sides, along with the U19.5s, the only teams in action. The Men’s Premier Division delivered a strong performance to secure an important win over UNSW, showcasing plenty of determination and teamwork throughout the contest. While the Women’s Premier Division and U19.5s were unable to come away with the points against a strong UNSW outfit, both sides continued to compete hard and gained valuable experience. The round provided plenty of positives to build on as the club looks ahead to the next set of fixtures.

Below is a full breakdown of each team’s performance, including coaches’ comments, best-on-ground players, and goalkickers.

Men’s Premier Division

Result:

East Coast 13.11 – 89 to UNSW 12.14 – 86

From The Coach:

MPD are off the duck with an inspired win against UNSW at BISP!!! We brought the pressure that we finished off with against UTS last week and were ahead early, before allowing UNSW back into the contest. Going into Q4 down by 11 points, the boys had to come from behind. It was an up and down last quarter, finally wrestling the lead back with a couple of minutes to go, and holding on for our first W of 2026. The win showed true character and belief from this group – and we should take this with us into every game moving forward. We look ahead to Wests in 2 weeks where we will need to be at our best again to get the points.
