Weekly Wrap Up – Round 3

Summary

It was a mixed weekend at Bruce Purser celebrating Back to Baulko, with some strong wins balanced by a few tough contests across the grades. The U19.5s and Women’s Premier Division both came away with impressive victories over Pennant Hills, while MD6 also secured a solid win against Sydney Uni. Other sides faced strong opposition, with close contests like MD2 showing plenty of fight despite the result. Overall, there were encouraging signs across the club, with effort and improvement continuing to build as the season progresses.

Below is a full breakdown of each team’s performance, including coaches’ comments, best-on-ground players, and goalkickers.

Men’s Premier Division

Result:

Pennant Hills 19.16 – 130 to East Coast 4.7 – 31

From The Coach:

Amazing day at home for Back-to-Baulko – unfortunately the performance and result didn’t match the day and we weren’t anywhere near our best. Thank you to the club volunteers for their tireless efforts in creating the best atmosphere and spectacle in Sydney AFL, and to all that came down to enjoy the 50-year celebrations. We look to bounce back this week against Manly in search of our first W for 2026

  1. Marshall Poynter
  2. Lyndon Hupfeld
  3. Benjamin Roughan

Goal Kickers:

  • Marshall Poynter (2)

Women’s Premier Division

Result:

East Coast 12.9 – 81 to Pennant Hills 0.0- 0

From The Coach:

It was a massive day for the club on Saturday, 50 years. We had a few milestones Caitlin Davidson played 50 game and also Grace Simonsen played her 1st prems game. The girls started slow but when the got going they looked really good and started to link up handballs and were able to convert it into goals. Standout on the day was Skye, she was very strong in the middle and then could push down forward to kick goals as well. Overall great win by the girls and was good to get the first win on the board and will be looking for more to come.

Women’s Division 1

Result:

Randwick 14.13 – 97 to East Coast 0.0- 0

From The Coach:

In an anomaly of the Sydney AFL promotion and relegation system we unfurled the Division 2 Premiership Flag against last year’s Division 1 premiers. Randwick showed us why they are the benchmark of the Division 1 Competition. We put up a strong resistance in the first quarter but ultimately Randwick proved too strong for us on this occasion.

Best On:

  1. Lily Foran
  2. Jade Potuzanski
  3. Grace Simmonsen
  4. Cassidy Jephtha
  5. Kayla Treadgold Simons

Men’s Division 2

Result:

Southern Power 6.11 – 47 to East Coast 6.5 – 41

From The Coach:

It was a big day for the “Back to Baulko – 50 Years” celebration. Perfect setting late in the day for the boys on their home deck. Selection was tough with plenty putting their hand up, which meant we rolled out a strong side on the day. Led out by the spiritual leader Foxy, we were good to go. After a quick reset at quarter time, we started winning it out of the centre and getting it forward to the little maestro. From there it was a proper back-and-forth contest for the rest of the game. A few missed opportunities cost us in the end, and we went down by 6 points. Big improvement from Round 1 with solid contributions across the board, and great for the boys to run out in front of a loud, vocal home crowd.
