From The Coach:

North Shore showed us why they are the benchmark this weekend. It was great to have 2 debutants and credit to them for giving it their all against a quality opponent. We learnt from this and remember that the sun comes up tomorrow, so we get another opportunity next week on the Back to Baulko stage with Rivalry, pride, and an opportunity to respond.

From The Coach:

It was really solid foundation from the girls in the 1st half and I was very proud of them. In the 2nd half they stood strong but ran out of legs as North Shore went on to win the game. Over all a solid performance from the girls in all aspects.

Unfortunately the 19.5 Div 1 boys went down to North Shore, however it was a really good effort from a very fresh and young side. Lots of positives to build on from this week and to set us up for a huge week in Back to Baulko for our club!

Women’s Division 1

From The Coach:

The East Coast Eagles Div 1 Women’s took to the field at Gore Hill for their first outing together as a group, with many players either making their debut or returning to the game after some time away. There were plenty of encouraging signs throughout the match, with newer players showing real courage and the more experienced group helping to lead the way with strong communication and composure. Lily and Grace were standout contributors on the wings, while Hayley, Alina and Geli also provided important impact and energy when on the ground. Overall, it was a promising first hit-out, with the group taking plenty of positives and lessons into the weeks ahead.

Men’s Division 6

Result:

UTS 11.13 – 79 to East Coast 8.4 – 52

From The Coach:

The East Coast Eagles Men’s Division 6 side opened their season with a trip to Trumper Park to face the UTS Bats, starting the day strong both on and off the field after claiming the early win in the parking battle (although GWS Giants superstar Jesse Hogan witnessed and questioned Merrick Stanioch’s reverse parallel parking ability). The Eagles came out firing in the first quarter, setting the tone with intensity and clean ball movement. Despite the swing in momentum, the Eagles never dropped their heads, bringing relentless tackling pressure throughout the contest. Steve Tumminello led the charge with some bone-rattling hits, while Lochlan Fisher was a standout up forward, slotting four goals in a promising return to form for 2026. Will Egan and Cam Veerhuis produced strong performances and were ever reliable as ever. There were plenty of positives to take away, including impressive debuts from Jayden Campion, Chris Sultana, and Josh Wall, all of whom more than held their own. The highlight of the day came from Sultana, who celebrated his first goal in Eagles colours — the first of what looks to be many.
