North Shore Shock EAGALS With An Emphatic Upset Victory

On a chilly Saturday evening, our red hot EAGALS wandered into Bomber territory, confident in continuing their wonderful string of form and achieve their 5th win on the trot.

What they were not prepared for, was a full frontal assault from North Shore, who ambushed their East Coast foes in truly unbelievable fashion.

The EAGALS were shocked, without answers and under pressure from the get go. Expectations were firmly pointing towards an East Coast victory in this match, but North Shore had other ideas. This game was a breaking point for the Bombers, as with only three games left, a loss here would have effectively ended their season.

The first term was hard hitting, and as many visiting teams find travelling to the AstroTurf of Gore Hill, it is extremely tough to get comfortable playing in difficult conditions. Especially when North Shore are so well acclimatised to their style of shotgun footy.

Our EAGALS just could not find a way around Bombers defenders, lacking composure in front of goal, which only boosted the momentum North Shore so methodically held onto.

Whilst the scores remained close throughout the first half, it was in the second half when North Shore ramped up the intensity and blitzed the EAGALS.

We could not find a way to goal, and North Shore made us pay, banging home two of their own in the decisive third quarter. They continued to pile on the pain late, kicking home three final term goals to our nil, running away with the contest by 35 points. For the first time this season, we failed to register a goal, despite continually pushing the envelope and trying to find a path to goal.

Georgia Garnett, Bryany Parker and Renee Tomkins were once again strong in a defeated side, proving to be as tough to play against as ever.

We need to put this loss behind us quick smart, as we head towards a showdown against the ladder leading and undefeated Manly Warringah Wolves, who now boast former EAGAL Em Goodsir.

Expect plenty of fireworks, with a crucial 4 points up for grabs.
