The ever-reliable Mark Skuse will celebrate a milestone this weekend, playing his 50th NEAFL/Premier Division game for the Eagles.
Skusey started his AFL journey at the Heathcote Hawks in 1992 as a six year old, filling in for his brothers under 9’s team, kicking a goal and winning the McDonalds Encouragement Award on his first outing.
Skuse joined the Eagles in 2009 and rates the 2009 Grand Final win over UNSW/Eastern Suburbs as his best moment at the club to date.
And when quizzed on the best player he’s played with, Skuse can’t look beyond current NEAFL Captain Jon Vlatko. “His continued drive, commitment, professionalism, leadership, selflessness and his ability to get the very best out of himself and his teammates spanning a long career makes him the best I have played alongside”, says Skuse.
His 49 games to date have comprised 16 NEAFL and 33 Premier Division fixtures.
From everyone at the Sydney Hills Eagles, congratulations Skusey on this milestone. Let’s hope there are many more to come.
