On a hot day for a pre-season tester, the Eagals travelled to Canberra to defend their title from 2022 in the AFLW Queanbeyan comp. With 4 games to be played in the fixtured event, in their first game against Eastlake, the Eagles came away with a win – 76-6.
Game 2 saw them come against another local team, Gungahlin Jets however, the Eagals outshone the competition with a massive confidence booster, winning 81-0.
A more competitive Game 3, they had to battle but came out winning against the Belconnen Magpies Football Club, 54-12. With one game to go to be undefeated in the rounds, and with some fatigue setting in given the hot conditions and test of match fitness, the Eagals took on the home team in a more competitive match but took line honours with a 29-12 win.
With a night to recover, the finals were set to kick off at 10:50am against the host club who finished in 4th place.
A fast turnaround and with the bodies feeling it, the Eagals were into the Grand Final in unseasonally hot conditions and had to push through the pain to take on Belconnen Magpies. After a massive effort, the Eagals were victorious and won the title and prize money for the second year in a row. Go EAGALS!!!!!
A big shoutout to the host club, Queanbeyan Tigers, for hosting a terrific weekend. The facilities, hospitality and volunteers were incredible. Thanks also goes to all the coaches, volunteers, helpers and parents for supporting the girls.
Super proud of this group and can’t wait to see what they do on the field this year as they are the defending Premiership team.
