EAGALS Put On A Clinic Against Sydney Uni Foes

A shock loss in Round One now seems like nothing more than a speedbump for the East Coast EAGALS Women’s Premier Division side, as they are now charging towards top spot on the ladder. The EAGALS set out their goals for Saturday evenings clash with Sydney Uni, and knocked each and every one out of the park.

This was a performance, which can only be described as a masterclass in how to play wet weather footy.

Whilst the heavens didn’t open on the EAGALS until later that night, the ground was still very heavy, and slippery conditions meant it was destined to be a challenging encounter for both sides.

However, East Coast rose to the challenge, taking nothing for granted but winning the footy time and time again with an unmatched desire and determination.

An even contest in the first quarter made for an exciting battle early, with Uni hanging in the fight. Just.

It was the second term where the EAGALS made their move, jumping Sydney Uni in a lethal quarter highlighted by pressure acts and quick ball movement. The Students just could not keep up.

Uni needed to hit back in the Premiership quarter, but the strength of East Coast’s backline gave them no chance, and with a little more accuracy in front of goals, the EAGAL lead would have only gotten larger. 38 points up at 3QT, and all that was left was the finishing touches.

Unsurprisingly, the EAGALS played the last quarter as if they’d just started, ferociously attacking the footy and running off their opponents with lightning speed. Sydney Uni had no answers all night.

Brenna Tarrant continued her brilliant 2020 with another great game kicking 3 goals, and GWS Giants AFLW player Taylah Davies had her best outing in an East Coast jersey.

The challenges keep coming for the EAGALS, as next week we tackle a much improved Southern Power side, in what could be a crucial match between two sides towards the top of the table.
