EAGALS Keep Rolling With Another Strong Win

Round 5 promised to be a tricky encounter for the EAGALS. Missing some key players, and facing an improved Southern Power side, it could have been considered a danger game in the lead up.

The East Coast Prems Women’s side has not put a foot wrong since Round 1, and this continued on Saturday evening, through a classy defeat of their opponents from the South.

Played in conditions that suited the EAGALS, as they had played in similarly cold weather in recent weeks, it became a survival of the fittest early on, as the thin air led to quick exhaustion from both sides.

The combination of youth and experience that our EAGALS boast throughout their roster, has come to define their 2020 season, and this was on full display against the Power. For this, the coaching staff deserves a huge kudos for the job they’ve done in readying the troops week in week out.

An even first quarter, was followed by a second term which saw East Coast steer ahead, converting some important goals leading into half-time. Our EAGALS radiated confidence in the second half, and would have led by more at 3QT, but despite being 18 points up, they let themselves down with inaccuracy in front of the sticks.

Southern Power could sniff their opportunity to pounce, but the East Coast defence quickly shut their window, as the Power’s aggressive forward line had no answers.

A pleasing 19-point win for the EAGALS, their 5th victory on the trot, and even more positive considering young forward Georgina Parker (kicked 2 goals) and Bryany Parker (Best On Ground) had their best performances of the season thus far. The win continued the club’s strong from throughout the day, and raises excitement for the Women’s Prems side going forward.

It remains a full side effort each and every week from the East Coast women, and this will need to continue as they march towards the finals series.
