MAGPIES ACADEMY BECOMES THE EAGLES ACADEMY IN 2017
Established in 2015 by David Hemmings (Academy Director) and Glenn Mackay (Academy Operations’ Manager), the Magpies Development Academy was created for players registered with the Kellyville Rouse Hill Magpies. This Academy was designed to provide our players / youth with an opportunity to develop their ability as AFL players.
In 2015 we appointed the East Coast Eagles Head Coach Michael Sankey as the Academy Coaching Director and since his appointment the support from the East Coast Eagles Football Club has been phenomenal. Over the course of two years the Magpies Academy had a capacity enrolment with 120 children completing the 10-week program. In 2016 The Magpies Academy achieved its greatest accomplishment providing a five day football tour to Victoria for 100 participants. As part of this tour we successfully raised close to $25,000 towards this AFL experience.
At the conclusion of the 2016 season the Magpies Academy and the East Coast Eagles agreed to provide additional support to develop future football stars for the East Coast Eagles and we have gone through the name change to now become the EAST COAST EAGLES ACADEMY. We are thrilled with this new name change that will allow us additional resources to develop young footballers. East Coast are thrilled to be part of that order viagra ship australia junior development. We are excited to now offer players from both the Kellyville Rouse Hill Magpies and the Baulkham Hills Hawks the opportunity to be part of the Eagles Academy in 2017.
This Academy is designed to be INCLUSIVE rather than EXCLUSIVE providing all abilities with an opportunity to become better AFL players. If a player is willing to work hard then we will provide them with a constructive setting and access to knowledgeable coaching services. If a child doesn’t have the skills or ability to be selected for the SWANS or GIANTS Academy, then their future development should not be limited. If a player at the Magpies or Hawks loves the game of AFL then we should provide them with as many opportunities as possible.
- Provide an opportunity for our players to increase their AFL skill set
- Provide an opportunity which develops a greater club culture
- Enable players across different age groups to bond
- Use the Academy to further develop our coaching team
- Expose our youth to as many AFL experiences as possible
- Provide our club players with an opportunity to travel as a team and experience playing AFL in WA, SA or Victoria
- Ultimately this Academy will set a benchmark for Club level AFL in NSW.
